What's in my Model Bag?

My work bag always has a few standard basic model essentials packed in it. A few of these things vary, depending on whether I’m shooting or doing a show.

HEELS

If I’m shooting a catalogue, I pack a pair of nude heels and a pair of black heels. If I'm shooting Indian wear, then I take a pair of gold heels as well as my nude and black heels. For shows, nine times out of ten I end up wearing my gold heels; but I take all my options to fittings and see what I will need to bring on the day of the show.

SOMETHING WARM

For every job I do, especially shows, I pack something warm to wear.
This could be either a throw or a cardigan and sometimes both,
because there is always an air conditioner blasting,
giving everyone a taste of the Arctic.

A BOOK

On occasion, I pack a book to read. Although, generally when I do, I don't get a moment to read a single word of it.

MONEY

I never take large sums of money to jobs, I take enough to get to and from location.

SILECONES

In India it is advised, no matter what job you are going to,
to always pack silicones and wear flesh coloured underwear.

MY CHARGER

A phone charger is a must, especially for models like me who use their phone a lot.

MASCARA AND EYE PENCILS

Having sensitive eyes, and for hygiene reasons, I always take my own mascara and eye pencils to jobs.

HAND SANITiSER

I always have this in my bag, especially when I’m working.
Some makeup artists don't have their own, so I make sure
that they sanitise their hands, using my hand sanitiser,
before touching my face.

PERFUME

I have a little bottle of perfume that was a gift from one of my best friends,
which I keep in my model bag. I call this my “work perfume”.

ROSEHIP OIL

During fashion weeks, because we are inside all day, day after day, having so much makeup applied; I apply rosehip oil on my face in the morning before going to work. Rosehip oil hydrates my skin and prevents the makeup from drying out my face.

                         A SMALL BOTTLE OF MOISTURISER

I always take a little bottle of moisturiser to work.
My skin looks so much better in shows and in
pictures if it is soft and hydrated.

MY 'JUST IN CASE' POUCH

A few other things I always have in my workbag include:
  • Face wash
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Heat protection spray for my hair
  • Plasters
  • And other basic makeup, like foundation
